How to Participate in Ohanashi

Everyone is welcome to participate in Ohanashi!

  • Come to the festival on November 18, 2006
  • Bring a friend (or a group!)
  • If you are a teacher and you're bringing a class, let us know about it, so we can recognize your school at the event!
  • Participate in the poster contest and have your poster displayed during the event
  • Sign up to share a book at the festival and receive a free copy
  • Explore the links in the Classroom Activities and Resources pages to become familiar with different aspects of Japan
If you are interested in volunteering at Ohanashi...
There are many opportunities for you to help, including:
  • Making signs and posters for the event (information about the event, but also creative posters about different aspects of Japan to display near the cultural discovery booths).  If you would like to help make posters, please contact Frances Yates (yatesf@muohio.edu).
  • Japanese Items Display: If you have any items from Japan that you wouldn't mind lending to us for display (toys, books, bonsai trees, yukata, etc.), please contact Stacy Brinkman (brinkmsn@muohio.edu)
  • Cultural Discovery Booths: If you would like to help out at one of our cultural discovery booths during the event (they correspond to the categories in Classroom Activities), we would love your assistance!
    • If you are a Miami University Student, please contact Amanda Hahn (hahnal@muohio.edu).
    • If you are a Miami University Faculty or Staff member, please contact Angie Webster (websteaj@muohio.edu).
    • If you are not officially affiliated with Miami University and you would like to help, please contact Justin Bridges (bridgejc@muohio.edu)

If you have any further questions or comments about volunteering, please contact Stacy Brinkman brinkmsn@muohio.edu.

Thank you very much in advance! We are thrilled to have your support and are looking forward to working with you to make this a memorable event!
