Theater Collections
Miami University Libraries has a solid collection of plays and books about theater, including
large selections from Samuel French and Dramatists Play Service catalogs,
major resources in scholarship and criticism, some 75 current
periodicals, and several major microform
collections. In addition, the Walter Havighurst
Special Collections Library has remarkable examples of Renaissance and
Eighteenth-Century
English plays in original editions, an extensive collection of Ibsen and
O'Neill, and the papers and
manuscripts of Mexico's twentieth-century playwright Rodolfo Usigli. Through
the MiamiLINK Internet Resources page you can connect to a world-wide
collection of plays in electronic format. New books in theater are made available weekly.
- Collection Development Policy
In addition to English-language plays and theater studies, the Library
collects for programs
in Classics, French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish and Latin
American Studies, and Chinese and Japanese. The library should have most
plays by significant American and British playwrights and should also
have most English-language scholarly studies about theater and performance.
