Named in honor of the distinguished Midwestern writer and long-time Miami faculty member Walter Havighurst, Miami University's special collections library includes a rich assortment of print resources in a number of subject areas.
The special collections library is open to students, faculty, and other users; faculty are encouraged to schedule visits for their classes; frequent exhibits display the library's holdings.

Hours: 8-5, Monday-Friday, and 1-5, Sunday.

In addition to significant editions of Daniel Defoe's works, includes Professor Spiro Peterson's personal collection and files documenting 250 years of Defoe scholarship.

The personal library of Louise Bogan, American poet and long-time poetry editor of The New Yorker.
Graphic Arts Collection
Howells Collection
A nearly complete collection of William Dean Howells first editions, including variant bindings, special issues, and a number of signed or inscribed copies.
Significant Holdings in Literature
Whitman, Cather, Farrell, Ibsen, O'Neill, and others.
Shakespeare first folios, Restoration and 18th-Century plays, Defoe, Burns, Orwell, and others.
