Hola, thanks for visiting, I'm Elias Tzoc -originally from Guatemala- I joined Miami University in August 2007. As a Digital Initiatives Librarian, I assist the head of the Center for Digital Scholarship to provide Miami scholars with the facilities, services, and expertise to support the creation and use of digital scholarship in all its forms. Two other projecs I currently work on are: the Scholarly Commons repository and Library's Digital Collections. In 2012, I also developed the first mobile interface for DSpace. In the fall semesters, I teach a section of the IMS 201 class for the AIMS program.

On my personal blog, you'll find posts about projects and/or topics that are relevant to my professional activities. On the top-right side of this page, you will also find links to dedicated pages about the work we've done with CONTENTdm and DSpace.

My current/recent work includes: prototyping web interfaces using Responsive Web Design principles, developing and prototyping themes for various collections in DSpace; researching for new access points and mobile apps for digital library programs; documenting and writing on topics like library technical issues and open source apps; led an LSTA MiniGrant project to migrate a newspaper collection from a commercial to an open source system; coordinated the digitization of the Freedom Summer collection through a grant from the Ohio Humanities Council; developed a web portal for the Miami Digital Archive; and implementing several web-customization projects for DSpace and CONTENTdm -using PHP, CSS, XML, XSLT, HTML5, jQuery and JavaScript.
