Who?

  • Librarians hired after mid-1998 required to teach credit courses on web development or web use.
  • Other librarians encouraged to teach for credit courses on web development or web use.
  • Miami's computer support (MCIS) assists students who experience difficulties with their Internet accounts.
  • How?
  • Offered through Systems Analysis department.
  • Three five-week terms offered each semester.
  • Classes are 1 credit hour, taken credit/fail.
  • Classes teach HTML coding, NOT editors.
  • Issues:
  • Letter grading? (many students want the option of receiving a letter grade).
  • New topics (XML? SGML?).
  • Mandatory information literacy classes?
