III. Use Databases to Find Articles (scholarly, popular, & newspaper)

Academic Search Complete
Our broadest, most general index to periodicals, Academic Search Premier provides indexing for over 7,600 scholarly and popular periodicals, and full text for more than 4,000 of these. It covers many academic areas of study, including social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts and literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies

Factiva
Factiva includes full-text coverage of all the major US and international newspapers including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, London Times, etc.

GPO Access
Full-text databases, finding aids, and other resources for locating federal government information. Databases cover congressional publications, laws, regulations, and key statistical and administrative publications such as the Economic Report of the President, the Budget of the U.S. Government, and the U.S. Government Manual. Date coverage varies for each database, but most begin in the mid-1990's.

Hein Online
Full-text of the entire historical runs of more than 400 law journals with more being added regularly. Many are current to within the last couple of years. Other historical law sets available are the Federal Register (1936-1981), U.S. Reports (Supreme Court opinions), and United States Treaties sets

International Political Science Abstracts
International Political Science Abstracts (IPSA),produced by the International Political Science Association, includes current indexing and abstracts of the world's leading journals in political science. This database contains over 110,000 records from nearly 900 journals published from 1989 to the present. Approximately 8,000 new records are added to the database each year.

Legal Collection
Centered on the discipline of law and legal topics, Legal Collection is a collection of respected, scholarly peer-reviewed publications including law journals, documents, and case studies. This database is an authoritative source for information on current issues, studies, thoughts and trends of the legal world. Legal Collection offers full text for more than 250 of the world’s best law journals.

LexisNexis Guided News Search
Provides full-text articles from national and regional newspapers, wire services, broadcast transcripts, international news, and non-English language sources. The Guided News Search form allows you to search for words in the full text of these sources. They have been divided into subsets from which you must choose first a news category (e.g., General , U. S. , World) and then a source type, which varies for each category

LexisNexis Legal
Full-text database containing federal and state case law and statutes; federal regulations; selected tax law sources; legal news; law reviews; Canadian statutes, regulations and case law; European Union law; case law from a small number of selected countries; patents; Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory; and law school information. Coverage and updating vary for each database

PAIS
Public Affairs Information Service (PAIS) indexes public affairs literature of public affairs including current issues within communities, countries, and government. PAIS provides access to the practical literature of political science. PAIS contains references to journal articles, books, government documents, statistical directories, research reports, conference reports, publications of international agencies, and Internet sites.

Supreme Court Nomination Hearings (1971 - present) via GPO Access

The Supreme Court Compendium: Data, Decisions & Developments
The Supreme Court Compendium is the only reference that presents historical and statistical information on every important aspect of the U.S. Supreme Court, including its history, development as an institution, the justices’ backgrounds, nominations, and confirmations, and the Court’s relationship with the public and other governmental and judicial bodies.

U.S. Supreme Court Jutices Database
This is a multi-user, public database containing a wealth of information on individuals nominated (whether confirmed or not) to the U.S. Supreme Court (John Jay-Samuel A. Alito, Jr). Specifically, the Database houses 263 variables, falling roughly into five categories: identifiers, background characteristics and personal attributes, nomination and confirmation, service on the Court, and departures from the bench.
