Florence Marmet was the founder of the Marmet Coal Company of Ohio (Cincinnati) which gave the name of the coal town Marmet, WV. The name was originally spelled Florenz from Germany. Came to the US as chilcren of a certain Dr. Charles Marmet who brought the family over. Florence (Florenz) lived from 1831-11/18/1887 in Cincinnati. The three children all had steamboats named after them: The Sallie Marmet, the Otto Marmet and the Florence Marmet.
