Although the one-day festival promises to be a fun event for teachers and
students alike, there is great opportunity for learning about Japanese
culture in the classroom before and after the event through this website.
The Classroom Activities page and the Resources page
were created with the intention that teachers can lead their classes
in activities that teach students about Japan and multicultural awareness
according to
their own timetable. Learn about a craft like origami to share with
your students, or have your students play an online interactive game
about Japanese geography.
Particularly good places to start include:
- Kids Web Japan--possibly
the best page for information about Japan, especially as it pertains
to children. Articles are written at a lower reading level and interactive
games and lessons are scattered throughout the site
- Web Japan--a more "grown up" page with
comprehensive information on many aspects of Japan, its culture,
and society.
- Journey Through Japan--take
a virtual tour through many parts of Japan, learning about aspects
of Japanese culture along the way.
Please note that we have by no means compiled a comprehensive list of resources
about Japan. Rather, the resources linked from this site represent
a selection of topics that support many of the aspects of Japanese
culture that we are highlighting in our one-day festival. |
